Series: "Living on the Word" - This Week's Message - "Feeding On the Living Word"

Dear Faith Life Family,

I trust that this message finds you blessed and encouraged after our powerful time together this past Sunday. It was such a joy to gather in person again after the weather delays, and the presence of the Lord was truly evident!

Summary:
The sermon explored the vital necessity of God's Word in our daily lives, drawing from Matthew 4 where Jesus declared, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." We examined the difference between the logos (the written, revealed Word of God) and the rhema (the Spirit-spoken, personally applied Word). Just as Jesus defeated the enemy's temptation in the wilderness by speaking the written Word He had stored in His heart, we too must become people who know, speak, and do the Word. This isn't about ritual or religion—it's about recognizing that our spiritual survival and victory depend on feeding constantly on Scripture. In a time of cultural confusion and spiritual warfare, we must fix our eyes on God's Word, allow it to correct and guide us, and live in the full benefits of our covenant with Jesus.

Takeaways:

  • The Word must become our daily bread. Just as the Israelites needed manna every day in the wilderness, we need fresh encounters with God's Word daily. It's not enough to have read it before—we must continually feed on Scripture, allowing the logos to become rhema as the Holy Spirit speaks specifically to our hearts and situations.

  • Obedience unlocks God's blessings. Like the Israelites who stopped God's blessing through complaining and disobedience, we can become bottlenecks to what God wants to do in our lives. It's not by our might or power, but by His Spirit—and His Spirit works through our obedience to His Word. Don't let delayed obedience (which is disobedience) rob you of breakthrough.

  • Pick up the words God has spoken to you. Some of us have "misplaced" prophetic words or promises God gave us because we haven't seen them fulfilled yet. Don't cast away your confidence! That rhema word still has the life God put in it when He spoke it. This week, spend time in prayer asking the Lord to remind you of what He's spoken, and pick it back up by faith.

As we continue this series on "Living on the Word," I encourage you to make Scripture a priority this week. Remember Job's testimony: he treasured God's words more than his necessary food. Let's develop that same hunger and discipline, knowing that in God's Word is everything we need for life, godliness, healing, provision, and victory!

Don't forget—our marriages, our families, our church, and our nation need believers who know the Word, speak the Word, and do the Word. Let's be those people in 2026!

Blessings and love,
Pastor Bruce
