5 Days of Fasting & Prayer • January 12–16
Why We're Fasting
In seasons of transition, God doesn’t just give new direction—He calls His people into deeper devotion. Before Joshua stepped into the promise of God, he learned to stay near the Presence of God. While others moved on, Scripture says Joshua would remain. (Exodus 33:7) He learned many things staying near to the Tent of Meeting. He developed a passion for the presence of God.
This fast is a holy reset: not a religious routine, but a realignment. We are turning down the noise, sharpening spiritual hunger, and setting our hearts to remain with Him—so we can stay fixed on His Word and move forward with strength and courage.

Why not a 21 Day fast this year?
This January, we have chosen to lead our church through a focused 5-day fast rather than our traditional 21-day fast. This decision was made intentionally and prayerfully. We wanted to create a season of consecration that encourages broad participation, prioritizes depth over duration, and meets people where they are in real life. A shorter fast allows our church family to engage with greater clarity, consistency, and focus—helping us seek God wholeheartedly without unnecessary pressure or burnout. Our goal is not endurance for endurance’s sake, but meaningful alignment with God as we begin the year.
Additionally, we did not want to adopt a model simply because it is common or expected. While we honor churches that observe longer fasts, we believe spiritual leadership requires discernment, not imitation. At Faith Life Church, we are committed to moving by conviction rather than comparison—listening for what the Lord is emphasizing for this house in this season. This 5-day fast reflects a call to intentional focus, abiding in His presence, and setting a sustainable spiritual rhythm for the year ahead. We’re not shortening our devotion to God; we’re sharpening our focus as we commit to remain fixed on His Word together.
