Romans 12:1-2 AMP 2015 - Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
Using the term "brainwashing" in a good sense means that we acknowledge that the world and its ways has programmed each one of us from an early age and that we need "reprogramming" using the word of God. This good brainwashing is exactly what Romans 12:1-2 talking about.
We have conformed to the way that the world has thought and acted to a large degree. It is amazing to see just how much of those that claim to be Christian think, talk and act like the world. It's as if there is no difference between those that do not acknowledge God and those that claim to know and serve God. What is the problem?...
An unrenewed mind.
As disciples of Christ we have been given the mind of Christ to access and use on a daily (and minute by minute) basis. But God has also given us the choice to think for ourselves or renew our minds with His word in order to be transformed from the way that the world thinks. The choice is ours.
Will we choose to renew our minds daily with God's word to experience His powerful transformation in our thinking? Or will we continue to be brainwashed along with the world?
There are some serious lying spirits at work in the world today and we need to wake up to the fact that the enemy has increased his attack against us. We need to return to the word of God daily to see God's perspective and get His strategy for the spiritual battle that we are in.
We cannot win the battle for the mind without using the mind of Christ that we have been given. Each time that we read the word of God we remind ourselves of God's will and plan. His word is His will. We need to know what He thinks so that we can think like Him. The truth of the word of God exposes the lies and the stinkin' thinking that we have allowed to pervade our minds. We need a check up from the neck up!
Are you consistently feeding your mind the word of God?
Say this: I present my mind and my soul to the Lord and I feed my mind the word of God in order to renew my thoughts to God's will and plan. I choose to think like God because I have the mind of Christ.
Pray this: Lord, I practice Your word today by presenting by whole self - spirit, soul and body to You. I will conform my thoughts to Your word by renewing my mind to the way that you think. My goal is to act like You and prove that Your will is good, acceptable and perfect. My mind belongs to You - help me remember that! In Jesus Name.
