Exodus 33:8 (NKJV) So it was, whenever Moses went out to the tabernacle, that all the people rose, and each man stood at his tent door and watched Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle.
Just as Moses was consistent about meeting with the Lord in prayer, we must make time to pray on a consistent basis. As I was studying about this point of the discipline of prayer, I heard the Lord say to me, "If you can show up to work on time, then you do have the discipline to set a time to pray and keep it." When you go to work everyday you are going somewhere and doing something that you value.
We know that we must have money to "pay the bills" and we want to have money to spend. Money is a motivator in these cases, right?
Identify what you want and what you are willing to invest in order to get what you want, then you will discover discipline. Or in other words, discipline is doing what it takes in order to get what you want.
Some mistakenly think that they do not have discipline and ask the Lord to give them discipline. But in actuality as Christians we have discipline in us in the form of the fruit of the spirit, self-control.
Self-control is already in us because the Holy Spirit lives in us. We do not need to ask the Lord for more of it, we need to use the self-control that we have. The more that we exercise it, the bigger and stronger it gets.
Change the viewpoint that you have about yourself where discipline is concerned. See in yourself what God has put within you. You have self-control. Set a time to meet with the Lord on a consistent basis. Deny yourself breakfast if you need to in order to have your prayer and study time in the morning. Decide to not eat physically until you eat and exercise spiritually and you will get with the program.
Challenge: Don't eat physical food in the morning until you first feed on the Word of God.
Say this: I have the fruit of the spirit named SELF CONTROL, it is in me because the Holy Spirit lives in me and I choose to release it now! I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength.
Pray this: "Father, thank you for living in me by the Holy Spirit. Because You live in me I can be disciplined to do what I need to do and be consistent in meeting with You daily. I will do whatever it takes to put You first place. I seek first Your kingdom! In Jesus Name."
