There was a day where news was reported in a factual way without an agenda. When something was found out to be wrong, there was a retraction. Not today...
Today, many media outlets lie and never retract a false statement or false story. They are not concerned about telling the truth, instead they are concerned about making money off of sensational, concocted lies.
“Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.” (1 Timothy 4:1–2, NLT)
“The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.” (Proverbs 12:22, NLT)
“For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44, NLT)
“Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.” (Colossians 3:9, NLT)
“Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies!” (Psalm 34:13, NLT)
The more that you listen to a lie, the more that you are likely to believe it and the further you move away from the truth.
Here's the bottomline: If you are not born again, it is unlikely that you will be able to recognize the truth from a lie. (You do not have the Spirit of Truth living on the inside of you) And even those that are born again that are not walking in the spirit will be most likely deceived by lies.
In Matthew 24, Jesus lists a number of signs that we will see before His return and at the very top of the list is worldwide deception. In the world, deception is growing stronger. This is another reason why we must daily feed on God's word.
It is only the truth of God's word that sets us free and keeps us free.
What would happen if all who identified as Christian turned off the news and tuned into their Bible for a solid week? (Or month!) Talk about a GREAT AWAKENING!
Pray this:
Lord, I choose to walk in the truth today. I put the truth of Your word before everything else today. I open my eyes to the authority of Your word and place it as my final authority. I put on the mind of Christ and choose to use the filter of Philippians 4:8 so that I think only on those things that are true. I am led, guided and directed by Your Spirit which is the Spirit of Truth and I quickly recognize a lie. In Jesus Name!
