The fear of the Lord is not being afraid of God, but walking in reverence, respect, honor, and humility before Him. Through Psalm 34, Proverbs, and the example of Moses, we learn that the fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom and positions us to receive God’s protection, provision, guidance, and transforming presence. By walking in the fear of the Lord we can reject anger and condemnation, embrace God’s love for people, and approach Him as a loving Father who desires to lead, teach, and care for His children.
