You Have the Power to Control Your Emotions
We can control our feelings instead of allowing our feelings to control us. We discovered that Jesus bore ALL our griefs and sorrows (Isaiah 53:4), which includes every negative emotion - depression, anxiety, stress, anger, hurt feelings, and panic attacks. 1 Peter 5:6-9, teaches us that humbling ourselves means actively casting our cares on God, not allowing anxious thoughts to take root. Carrying cares is not only deceptive (making us think depression or worry is normal) but also dangerous - putting us in the same category as someone intoxicated, unable to hear God's voice or receive His grace. God has already given us His perfect peace (shalom) and joy through the Holy Spirit, and we have the authority and power to live in that reality every single day.
