Consider The Consequences

Consider The Consequences

Proverbs 10:21  “The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense.”  NLT

The book of Proverbs places great value on something that many people overlook today,- good judgment and common sense.  In a culture that often rewards impulsive reactions, wrong decisions, emotional outbursts, and lawless behavior, the quiet strength of sound thinking is sometimes ignored.  But Scripture teaches us that a prudent person understands their path.  In other words, they think things through rather than reacting impulsively.

Common sense is not complicated. It is simply the ability to see situations clearly, consider consequences and make decisions that align with God’s Truth.  It asks questions before acting.  It measures outcomes before speaking.  It weights choices before moving forward.  Wisdom teaches us that not every opportunity should be taken, not every opinion should be voiced, and not every situation requires an immediate reaction.

The foolish often move quickly, speak quickly and decide quickly.  But the prudent person pauses long enough to evaluate the road ahead.  They understand that decisions shape direction and direction ultimately determines destination.

When common sense and wisdom work together, they protect our lives from unnecessary trouble.  They help us avoid traps that impulsive thinking often creates.  Proverbs reminds us that wisdom is not merely human knowledge, it is the ability to apply truth with sound judgment.

God has given us His Word, His Spirit and a sound mind so that we can navigate life with clarity instead of confusion.  When we allow wisdom to guide our thinking, our steps become more secure, our decisions more stable, and our lives more fruitful.

A wise person does not rush blindly through life.  Instead, they walk thoughtfully, prayerfully and intentionally, understanding that every choice is helping build the structure of their life.

Wisdom Statement:
Common sense protects the path, but wisdom directs the destination.
