Day 1 - Turning Aside To Meet WIth God

Day 1 Recap: Turning Aside to Meet with God

Dear Faith Family,
I hope this message finds you encouraged as we journey together through these five days of prayer and fasting. What an incredible start to 2026 as we intentionally position ourselves to hear from the Lord!

Summary: This morning's message explored the power of God's presence through the life of Moses and the tent of meeting. We discovered that prayer is not primarily about getting something from God, but about positioning ourselves to hear from the Creator who knows us intimately and has plans for our lives. Just as Moses had to "turn aside" at the burning bush, we too must deliberately step away from our routines and distractions to encounter God face-to-face. The sermon challenged us to understand that God's presence—not our intelligence, resources, or abilities—is the true difference-maker in our lives.

Takeaways:

  • Turn Aside Intentionally: Like Moses at the burning bush, we must deliberately turn aside from our normal activities to meet with God. This requires setting up our own "tent of meeting"—a dedicated time and place where we consistently fellowship with Him, bringing our Bible, pen, and paper, fully expecting to hear His voice.

  • Slow Down to Hear Clearly: God doesn't speak in the midst of our hurried, stressed lives. We must calm our spirit, soul, and body to reach that place of shalom—complete peace and wholeness. When we wait upon the Lord and are still before Him, He renews our strength and speaks with clarity, face-to-face, just as He did with Moses.

  • The Holy Spirit Opens Communication: Being filled with the Holy Spirit transforms our ability to hear from God. The baptism of the Holy Spirit, including praying in tongues, opens up a deeper dimension of communication with the Lord. If you haven't been filled with the Holy Spirit, this week may be your appointed time to receive this gift.

Moving Forward: Remember, these five days are not just a spiritual sprint—they're training for a lifestyle of remaining in God's presence. Consistency is the key. Whether you're fasting from food, social media, or news, keep your focus fixed on the Lord. Push aside the distractions and weights that try to pull you away. God is waiting in the tent of meeting, ready to speak to you personally about the year ahead.

Don't forget to join us Wednesday night at 7 PM at the church in Dacula as we continue seeking the Lord together. If this message blessed you, please share it with someone who needs encouragement in their prayer life.

Remaining in His Presence,
Pastor Bruce
