Correction Protects the Path and Keeps the Walls Straight

“He who listens to instruction and heeds correction is on the path to life, but he wo ignores correction is on the path to ruin and will lead others astray.”  Proverbs 10:17
 
So maybe we don’t wake up every morning welcoming correction with open-loving arms and a tight embrace!  BUT, a person with godly wisdom doesn’t resist correction, they receive it.  

We also, do not wake up each day welcoming failure and defeat because we have made the wrong decisions and choices.  
 
Instruction is not an insult;  It’s protection.  Correction is not rejection, it’s re-direction.  

The person who welcomes godly instruction is positioning themselves on the path of life, not just survival, but Longevity, fruitfulness and success.  
 
Scripture gives a sober warning:  The one who refuses correction does not only harm themselves, but they also lead others astray.  When pride overrides humility, the damage spreads.  Homes are affected, ministries are affected and future generations are affected.  
 
You can’t build a house where no one is teachable.  To ignore correction is to slowly drift off course while insisting you are still headed in the right direction.  Wisdom says, “Search me”.  Pride says, "I’ve got this, I’m fine".  Wisdom invites accountability.  Pride avoids it.  
 
Correction may sting in the flesh, but it strengthens the structure!  If we cannot be corrected, we can’t be trusted with greater weight.  Every builder needs things adjusted.  Every path needs recalibration.  God send instruction through His Word, through spiritual leadership, through conviction by the Holy Spirit and through God’s Word.  
 
The question is not, “Was that comfortable”?  It should be:  “Did that save me from something”?  

Heeding instruction keeps us on the path of life.  Rejecting it creates confusion;  Not only for us, but for those who lives we influence.
