Recognizing Danger

Recognizing Danger

Proverbs 22:3  “A prudent, astute and sensible person watches for problems ahead and prepares to meet them;  But the naïve and gullible person walks blindly ahead and pay the penalty.”

Yesterday we discussed the importance of having a prudent heart. Today we want to highlight prudence as a dear, close friend, because she will often keep you from possible destruction. She signals us through patterns, red flags, or a check in our spirit not to proceed.

The naïve and gullible person does not lack intelligence; rather, they believe everything that comes along because it sounds legitimate, looks legitimate, and even smells legitimate. They base their conclusions on prior situations and make determinations based solely on human intellect and previous understanding.

The wonderful truth about the Holy Spirit’s wisdom is that He gives us the ability to see what others do not see—or what they may overlook altogether. He will alert us to situations that require caution.  (John 16:14, He will show us things to come….”)

Prudence responds to those warnings by adjusting the course before anything negative or dangerous happens.

There are times when wisdom will tell us to step back from a relationship, reconsider a business decision, or wait before moving forward in a particular timing before a commitment is made.

This is not fear—it is divine discernment at work.

Prudence understands that avoiding trouble is often wiser than trying to repair the damage later.

Wisdom Statement:
Wisdom builds the house when prudence recognizes danger early and chooses a wiser path.
