Uncompromised Allegiance

Uncompromised Allegiance

Proverbs 10:6  “Blessings are upon the head of the uncompromisingly righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.”

Proverbs 10:8  “The wise in heart will receive and obey the Lord’s commandments, but the foolish will fall headlong.”

The AMPC Bible uses the phrase “uncompromisingly righteous” frequently.  This phrase does not describe a person who is perfect or who never misses it.  But it is describing someone who has settled the question of allegiance.  They have chosen God’s Word as the standard for their life and are determined to walk in it.

Perhaps many people today do not understand the importance of “allegiance”.  Our modern culture often replaces allegiance with "convenience", where commitments are easily abandoned when things aren’t convenient, comfortable or appealing.

The uncompromisingly righteous understand they that are still growing and learning.  When correction comes through Scripture, wise counsel or by the Holy Spirit, the righteous don’t resist it.  They receive it, make the necessary adjustments and continue moving forward.

However, the “foolish” take a whole different approach:  They believe that their own opinion is the highest authority.  And instead of allowing God’s Word to make corrections they defend their position and resist the truth.

Where the righteous are teachable, the foolish are stubborn.  This difference is the “posture of the heart” or their “allegiance" to the authority that governs their life.

The uncompromisingly righteous say, “God’s authority governs my life.”  A person with allegiance to God does not need to reconsider what they have already surrendered to God.

Let’s ask ourselves:  “Have I decided to pledge my allegiance to God and the authority of His Word and receive correction wherever and whenever needed?”
