The Pillars That Hold The House - pt. 2

The Pillars That Hold The House - pt. 2

Proverbs 9:1  “Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars.”

Scripture reveals that wisdom does not build randomly, it builds structurally.  A house that stands requires support. Remove the supports and stability is compromised.  The book of Proverbs shows us that wisdom rests upon foundational truths from God that uphold a life of faith.

Pillar 1 - The reverential fear or reverence of the Lord
Proverbs 9:10  “The awesome reverential reverence of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” If reverence for God is missing, everything else collapses.  Wisdom begins with a holy respect and reverence for Almighty God; surrendering in submission to His authority.

Pillar 2  - The knowledge of the Holy One
Wisdom is relational, it flows from knowing God, His character, His ways and His Word.  We cannot walk wisely if we do not truly know Him.

Pillar 3 - Instruction – Teachability
Proverbs 9:9 says, “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser.”   A wise heart remains correctable.  Pride blocks wisdom;  Humility invites it.

Pillar 4  - Righteousness
Wisdom governs moral choices, motives and integrity.

Pillar 5  - Discretion
Proverbs 2:11 says, “Discretion will watch over you and understanding will keep you.”
Wisdom builds boundaries and guards speech, relationships and appetites.

Pillar 6  - Prudence
Proverbs 8:12 says, “I, Wisdom from God make prudence my dwelling and I found out knowledge and discretion.”   Prudence see ahead and it weighs the consequences.  Wisdom is never impulsive.

Pillar 7  - Life-giving counsel
“She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her”, Provers 3:18.  Wisdom produces peace, stability and blessing.

These seven pillars of wisdom are not decorative, they are structural.  Remove one and the house leans.  Remove two and it cracks.  Remove the “reverential respect and awe of the Lord", and the whole structure collapses.

May we build carefully, honoring every pillar God has established.

Thank you Pastor Sheila for sharing these essential truths and reminders. I think sometimes I get caught up in life that my vision gets skewed a little. Thank you for realignment?
