Destroyed For Lack of Knowledge

God works in the earth through knowledge – He does not work through ignorance.  He is wisdom, He is omniscient.  He is the very source and embodiment of truth and knowledge.  
If we are going to receive from God, we must gain knowledge of how He works – and then walk in the light of that knowledge.  God works by faith and through faith.  
 
In contrast, the enemy works in the earth through ignorance, deception and lies.  When people are ignorant of God’s Word and His ways, the enemy is able to operate unhindered;  he depends on ignorance to carry out his plan. 
 
Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”. 
The word destroyed means cut off.   In other words, God’s people can be cut off – not from His love, but from His wisdom, His provision, and His help, simply because they do not know His Word.  
 
Notice, this verse does not say, God’s people are destroyed because of the devil or opposition, but because of a lack of knowledge.  That is a sobering truth – and an empowering one.  
 
As we gain knowledge of God’s Word, we begin to understand how He works – and that knowledge gives us the advantage over the enemy, not the other way around.   
 
Faith is not something we try to manufacture.  Faith comes by hearing His Word over and over again.  Romans 10:17 says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”   The more we hear and receive God’s Word, the more faith rises within us.  
 
We are not instructed to pray for more faith – but we are instructed by example to pray for greater revelation.  Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:17-19 that believers would receive “the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.”   This is a prayer we should pray over ourselves daily.  
 
Wisdom Statement:  Ignorance give the enemy access, but revelation gives the believer an advantage;  When you know God’s Word, you position yourself for His power to work in your life.
