Wisdom Lives Where Prudence Dwells
Proverbs 8:12-14 “I Wisdom from God, make prudence my dwelling place and I find out knowledge and discretion. The reverent and worshipful awe of the Lord includes the abhorrence of evil, pride, arrogance, wickedness, rebellion and perverted and twisted speech. I have counsel and sound knowledge, I have understanding, I have might and power.”
Wisdom does not live in carelessness, impulse or whatever feels right in the moment. Wisdom says, “I make prudence my dwelling.” Prudence is not fearfulness or timidity; It is the God-given ability to think clearly, discern rightly and recognize what is truly happening beneath the surface. It’s wisdom’s close companion.
The world often celebrates impulse reactions, champions loud opinions and hasty decisions. But godly wisdom teaches us to slow down long enough to see clearly, to evaluate and process. Wisdom finds out knowledge and discretion. She helps us discern what is genuine and what is only a cleverly disguised counterfeit. She exposes pride, arrogance, twisted talking, and the subtle ways the enemy attempts to skew the truth.
Just as a logo can become distorted when stretched out of it’s proper proportion, our thinking can become distorted when we lose the reverence of the Lord. The longer we look at something skewed, the more normal it becomes. But wisdom has a way of bringing everything back into proper alignment. She restores the straight line, and corrects what has become slanted. Wisdom causes us to hate what God hates and love what God loves.
Wisdom doesn’t just give information, she gives counsel, understanding, might and power. When you walk with wisdom you’re not left to figure life out on your own! God gives you discernment for every decision, strength for every battle and direction for every step.
Wisdom Statement: What you allow to become normal will eventually shape your life. Wisdom keeps your heart aligned with what is true.
