(I couldn’t pass this one up, for sentimental reasons;  My dad and I had a common love for John Wayne movies and his overall, perspective of life, country and people.)
 
On May 26, 1907 Marion Robert Morrison was born in very humble beginnings and rose to become one of America’s most recognizable and patriotic film legends    – John Wayne.  

Known to millions as “The Duke”, he became far more than just a movie star.  He represented courage, patriotism, rugged determination and an unapologetic love for America.  He starred in over 170 films and was especially known for westerns and war movies that reflected themes of bravery, sacrifice, loyalty and perseverance.  
 
Off Screen Mr. Wayne supported the U.S. military forces in many various ways.  He honored those who served, visited the troops overseas and constantly promoted traditional American values.

He was especially known for helping out many people who worked with him in the film industry by giving them jobs, opportunities, encouragement, and financial support to actors, crew members, stuntmen and long time friends.
 
Politically, Wayne was conservative Republican who openly defended the Constitution, and individual freedom and the right to bear arms.  He valued and thought others should value:  Personal responsibility, Faith, Patriotism, and hard work.  

Whether people agreed with him or not, he never hid from his convictions.  “The Duke” still remains one the most enduring symbols of classic Americana and ole’ – fashioned patriotism symbols.
