Your Tongue Is Steering Your Life

James 3:4  “Look also at ships:  Though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder where the captain steers, determines the direction.”   AMPC

“And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the captain chooses to go, even through the winds are strong.”   NLT
 
A rudder may be small, but it determines the direction of a massive ship.  James says the tongue works the same way.  Our words have “steering power.”  
 
Negative, critical, angry speech can slowly steer relationships into division and tension.  But encouraging, faith-filled wise words can guide people toward peace, healing and stability.  

Everyday wisdom means learning to speak intentionally instead of emotionally.  

A careless sentence spoken in frustration can create damage that takes years to repair.
