One Spark Can Start a Fire

James 3:5  “But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.”    
 
 
A single careless word can create enormous damage.  One sarcastic comment, one angry outburst, one piece of gossip, or one harsh criticism can spread quickly and wound deeply.  
 
James warns us that words are like sparks….. Left unchecked, they can ignite strife, division, bitterness and pain.

Have you ever held a sparkler and it burned a hole in a garment of clothing?  It’s usually non repairable and ruined forever.  Hearts can heal and be made whole, but it takes time.
 
Wisdom teaches us not to speak recklessly in emotional moments.  

Some fires in relationships were started by words that should have NEVER been spoken.  
 
Before speaking, pause and ask:  “Will this bring peace, or will it start a fire?”
