Fear Magnifies Problems

Fear Magnifies Problems

Scripture:  Numbers 13:31-33

Wisdom Statement:  The giants were real, but fear made them appear bigger than God.  Fear ALWAYS enlarges the obstacle and minimizes the promises.

The ten spies and Joshua and Caleb all saw the same land, the same giants, and the same challenges.  They also heard the SAME PROMISE from God.  The difference was not what they saw, it was how they viewed it.  Fear focused on the obstacles, while faith focused on God’s promises.

Fear has a way of exaggerating difficulties and shrinking our confidence.  Wisdom chooses to see every challenge through the lens of God’s power and faithfulness.  What seems impossible to man is NEVER impossible with God.

Notice that the giants never changed size, but the perception of them did.  Fear caused the spies to say, “We were like grasshoppers in our own sight.”  Fear didn’t just affect how they saw the giants, it affected how they saw themselves.

When fear is allowed to dominate our thinking, we begin to forget who we are in Christ and what God has promised us.  Wisdom remembers that our ability is not the issue; God’s ability is!  The Lord never asked Israel t conquer the land in their own strength.  He simply asked them to believe Him and follow His direction, after He told them He has ALREADY given them the land.

Fear measures the size of the giant;  Wisdom measure the greatness of God.

Prayer:  “Father, help me see every challenge through the lens of Your faithfulness and power. Remind me that no obstacle is greater than Your promises and no giant is larger than Your ability. Teach me to walk by faith and not by sight, trusting You in every situation. In Jesus' Name, Amen.”
