Fear Clouds Judgment

Fear Clouds Judgment

II Timothy 1:7   “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.”

A fearful mind becomes a confused mind.  Wisdom thrives where there is peace and soundness.

Many regrettable decisions are made during moments of fear.  When emotions are elevated, wisdom is often ignored.  Fear pressures us to react quickly, while wisdom teaches us to pause and seek the Lord.  God has given believers a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.  The Holy Spirit brings clarity and fear brings confusion.  Before making important decisions, allow God’s peace to settle your heart and guide your thoughts.

Fear has a way of creating urgency where none exists.  It will tell us that we must act immediately, fix the problem ourselves or take matters into our own hands.  Yet throughout the Scripture, we see that God’s guidance is often accompanied by peace, even when circumstances are challenging.  A sound mind is not a troubled mind, a panicked mind or an anxious mind.  It’s a mind that is governed by the Word of God and yielded to the Holy Spirit. Wisdom understands that God’s direction does not become clearer when we panic – it becomes clearer when we trust Him.  When peace rules the heart, wisdom is free to speak.

Building Wisdom:  Never make permanent decisions based on temporary fear.

Prayer:  “Father, thank You for giving me a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Help me resist the pressure to react out of fear or emotion. Teach me to seek Your wisdom, trust Your leading, and allow Your peace to guide every decision I make. In Jesus' Name, Amen.”

Declare:
"I have a sound mind. God's wisdom directs my decisions."
