Fear is a Poor Counselor

Fear is a Poor Counselor

Isaiah 41:10  “Fear not for I am with you;  Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Wisdom Statement:  Fear will give advice, but it’s counsel is ALWAYS WRONG!  It says retreat when God says, “Advance!”

Fear will always offer its opinion.  It says, “You can’t do it,”  “You’re not ready,” or “What if you fail?” Yet throughout Scripture, God repeatedly told His people, “FEAR not.”  Why?  Because fear cannot lead us into God’s best.  Fear wants us to shrink back, but faith encourages us to move forward in obedience.  Wisdom listens to God’s voice above every other voice.  When God’s Word speaks, fear loses its authority.

Fear's counsel is rooted in uncertainty and doubt. It focuses on human limitations while ignoring God's power and faithfulness. Many opportunities have been missed because someone listened to fear instead of obeying God. Fear said Moses couldn't speak, Gideon was too small, and Jeremiah was too young. Yet God used each of them because they chose to trust His Word above their own insecurities. Wisdom understands that God's qualifications are greater than our limitations. When God says, "Go," wisdom agrees with Him and moves forward in faith.

Building Wisdom:  Never take advice from something God told you to resist.

Prayer:  “Father, help me recognize the voice of fear and refuse its counsel. Teach me to listen carefully to Your Word and to trust Your direction above my feelings, doubts, or insecurities. Strengthen me to move forward in faith whenever You lead, knowing that You are with me and will help me every step of the way. In Jesus' Name, Amen.”

Declare: "God is with me, strengthening and helping me. I will follow His wisdom and not fear's counsel."
